Bio
Born in Cisco,
Texas just outside of Abilene, Chris Reeves grew up playing West Texas honky
tonks and dance halls. He picked up the guitar at 10 years old and hasn't
put it down since. Six months into his music career, he was already playing
lead guitar and was being asked to perform with dozens of local acts. At age
14, Reeves played his first paid honky tonk gig, although it almost didn't
happen. The club owner said that although his father was with him, he was
simply too young to be in his club. Once the band leader said he would not
play without his young guitarist, the club owner relented and Reeves was
able to play his first country dance. Ever since then, there haven’t been
many Saturday nights that Chris hasn’t been onstage somewhere in Texas or
beyond.
After cutting his
teeth in West Texas dance halls with notable acts such as Vernon Willingham
and the Texas Rhythm Boys, Texas Touch, George Allison and popular Central
Texas band Southern Cross, Reeves was summoned to the Texas Hill Country by
country singer Craig Dillingham. After playing all over Texas with
Dillingham, Chris went on to play for 5 years with ‘Nashville Star’ season
one finalist John Arthur Martinez and in 2005 joined him onstage at the
Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. Reeves also toured Europe 6 times
with Martinez, as well as 4 tours of the East Coast. Since then, Chris has
performed and recorded with many well known Texas acts such as Bo Porter,
Jeremy Steding, Luke Olson, Johnny Bush and currently holds the lead guitar
spot with Jason Allen who has had 3 number one hits on the Texas Music
Chart.
In 2010, Reeves
joined with Fewer Sorrows Music, an independent record label, and has just
completed his first release, “A Good Year for Beer”. This album comes after
years of experience entertaining honky tonks and dance halls and embodies
the spirit of true country music. And that experience is showcased by Reeves
who sang every vocal and played every lead guitar part on the project. “A
Good Year for Beer” contains 3 songs penned by Reeves, and 8 other original
songs hand picked from the catalogs of some of Texas’ best songwriters who
all consider Chris a good friend. The album also includes 3 of Reeves’
favorite cover tunes making it a total of 14 songs of real country music.
Some of the best musicians in Texas came together to help Chris with the
album, and it is evident in every note that you hear.
Armed with this new
release, Chris Reeves is now finally in the spotlight and will be touring in
2012 fronting his own band, continuing an already long and successful
career, and as always keeping it country.
